The Thanksgiving holiday is all about enjoying one’s home with friends and family. If you plan on hosting Thanksgiving, make your home feel more comforting and inviting by decorating it in a festive manner that’s appropriate for the holiday. The following are four tips to help you with your Thanksgiving Day décor:

Creative Candles

Candles are an easy way to spread around a bit of Thanksgiving Day cheer throughout your home. Scented candles can help bring indoors the scents of the fall season, something that everyone associates with Thanksgiving. While white candles work fine, pick up a few candles that boast fall colors, such as red, orange, and yellow, to really help add to the Thanksgiving atmosphere.

Outdoor Elements

Using some of the fall’s outdoor elements is a great way to spruce up your home’s Thanksgiving-themed interior design. Pick out some greenery to drape around the mirrors and paintings hanging in your home. Fill up a traditional basket with fall leaves, and use it as a centerpiece for your living room’s coffee table. Even a small glass bowl or plate of pinecones can help give your home that warm and welcoming vibe.

Throw Pillows and Blankets

Just because your furniture doesn’t exactly give off a fall or Thanksgiving-like vibe doesn’t mean that you have to go out and find furniture that does. Buying some throw pillows and blankets in fall colors, such as red, yellow, orange, brown, etc., is a great way to add a touch of fall throughout the room.

Festive Foods

Thanksgiving is a holiday known for food—but not all of it has to be served. There are plenty of foods, particularly fruits and vegetables, that can be used as décor items—for example, pumpkins! Pumpkins provide a burst of orange—a vibrant fall color—and help provide visual texture to any space. Buy some miniature pumpkins and different colored gourds to decorate your mantle. You can also group them together in a basket or bowl as a centerpiece. Another excellent food décor item that is associated with Thanksgiving is dried corn. Use different colored corn as a centerpiece, or even hang a few cobs together on a blank wall.
